Dan Kearney Was Featured at Black Walnut. February 15th
On Friday, February 15, 2013 Dan Kearney started the program in style with a feature set of 6 original songs to acquaint us with his brand new CD – “Something to Say” http://www.unstoppablefrankiepicasso.com/something-to-say . Check out Dan’s photo on our “Performers Picture” page. It was a fine performance and the rest of the evening kept up the standard. We had one of our better turnouts of listeners and performers including at least two first-time Black Walnut performances.
We’ll be back with our next Acoustic Open Stage On Friday March 15, 2013 at 8 pm. On February 15, 2013 the Open Stage performers were:

Black Walnut Open Stage on January 18th
The Black Walnut Open Stage on January 18th was chock full of fun and great music, The growth in our audience more than made up for a shorter list of performers. Everybody kept on playing more songs until our regular closing time.

Christmas Party – Not the End of the World
Well in spite of a reduced turnout maybe because of conflicts like the Brantford Open Stage and the busy Christmas Party season, we had a great evening of songs, treats and prizes on Friday December 21, 2012. There was some Christmas/seasonal theme in evidence. Thanks to all who have contributed to the club this year either by attending our monthly Open Stage or performing or helping with the production. Open Stage With The Road Closed On November 16
On Friday, November 16, 12 performers and more listeners made it through the construction to the Mill Courtland Community Centre for the Black Walnut Acoustic Open Stage. We had a fine evening with some long absent returning performers. One of our friends managed to get down Mill Street to the closed section and left his car there until we concluded the festivities. Report on the October 19th Black Walnut Acoustic Open Stage
A goodly multitude managed to navigate the road construction closure for the Open Stage on October 18th. We had twelve fine musical performers and a couple of encores to round out the evening. We’ll be back on Friday November 16th with another all Open stage event.

Report On The September 21, 2012 Black Walnut Acoustic Open Stage
Our 2012-13 season got off to a fine start on September 21. Most people found the new temporary driveway on Stirling Avenue got them in without dealing with the road construction. We had great turnout and were treated by one new performer and a return from Three folks that we used to see and hear on a regular basis. (more…)

We Are Going to the Millrace
The Millrace Festival of Traditional Folk Music, in Cambridge August 3-5 is the biggest Local Festival. Check it out. For info go to http://www.millracefolksociety.com/
In addition to lots of concerts and work shops featuring top musicians from a wide variety of traditions there are dances, playing sessions and sing-a-rounds, all in the beautiful downtown Galt area of Cambridge. Plus it is free of charge. So, check it out, buy a program, make a donation, sing some songs and join the Millrace folk Society.

The Last Open Stage For the Season Was June 15th
We had a great evening with top notch performances and announced a new name for our event. Starting immediately our monthly music event will no longer be called the “Black Walnut Folk Club”. The new name is (drum-roll please) the “Black Walnut Acoustic Open Stage” (more…)
